Veneers cover the front section of a tooth, and can be used to whiten, straighten or change the shape of a tooth. These are often made in a lab from tooth coloured porcelain. However, bonding options also existas an in-house option to correct irregularities or blemishes of teeth, without removing any tooth structure. Please discuss this with one of our friendly dentists to find out which option is best for you.
Teeth whitening, or bleaching, is a method used to whiten teeth colour. This treatment can be completed in-house, or in the form of a take home kit and can be effective in correcting stained and discoloured teeth.
Tooth Coloured Fillings
Composite and glass ionomer cement fillings, or tooth coloured fillings, are a natural looking option for large tooth restorations. These are frequently used and can be a good alternative to amalgam (silver) fillings in some cases.
In the case that a restoration is too large for a tooth coloured filling to sufficiently restore the tooth to full function, alternatives such as inlays and onlays may be a good solution. The difference between these options and tooth coloured fillings is the way in which a tooth is prepared and the material used. Inlays and onlays can be made from gold, porcelain, ceramic or composite material and are much stronger than tooth coloured fillings.
